WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

“THE SCIENCE OF LIFE”

Ayurveda is considered by many to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life” placing great emphasis on prevention and maintenance of balanced health by paying close attention to one’s individual life, thinking, diet and lifestyle.

Living with guidance and support of a system of medicine that is thousands of years old makes good sense. Ayurveda stands the test of time and is practiced all over the world. The “Science of Life” is a complete approach, calling on the wisdom of all sciences to support health and wellness of mind, body & spirit.

LIVING AYURVEDA

The Art & Science of Ayurveda is profound. As a complete system and “lifestyle”, Ayurveda shines the way towards a deepening of connection of mind, body & spirit. While there are many limbs to this profound medicine,  it is preventative health, daily practice and wellness that has been my great inspiration.

Ayurveda asks:

  • How do we live in good health and balance?

  • How do we live in good relationship to ourselves and the community around us-one that fosters interconnection and support?

  • What can we do to create sustainable and loving lives that are long-term and supportive towards others?

Ayurveda teaches us a way of living that is both in line with our inherent nature as well as time of life, time of day, time of year and the world around us. In this approach, and as a result, our own body rhythms strengthen and therefore, we strengthen too. From resilient immune systems to aligned ethical codes, Ayurveda guides into the call of deepened connection.
